We've all been there, right?

Hi!

I'm Martin and welcome to Find Best Niche Markets, my blog on everything affiliate marketing related! (This is me - check out my welcome page for more information)

I set this blog up for two reasons. One - I wanted to create a domain offering help and support to struggling online marketers, as well as handy hints, tips and advice.

Two - I wanted to create a community of users and visitors each sharing important information and support in the hope that YOU guys might teach ME a thing or two as well! You're never too old to learn!

Let's be honest.

How many hours have you spent pouring effort into marketing campaigns that have just been wasted?

Campaigns where you're targeting the wrong people in an incorrect way in too broad of a niche?

Maybe you've jumped into PPC campaigns a little early and have spent A LOT of time and money on campaigns that aren't going anywhere?

Brother (or sister), I feel your pain!

One of the first campaigns I started was about hypertension and high blood pressure. I spent hours on Clickbank looking for hypertension products and natural remedies that I thought people might want to buy.

I went full throttle at it, signing up to affiliate programs left right and centre. I even bought my own website BEFORE I MADE A SINGLE SALE as I was so sure I was doing things right.

The site, by the way, is here, in case you want to have a look and see where I went wrong. Just don't expect it to be up for much longer!

It was only after a month or so of constant slogging that I realised I must be doing SOMETHING wrong....so I went back to basics and looked at my keywords.

It's all well and good writing article after article such as Hypertension Symptoms and Signs and Cure Hypertension Without Drugs because you have an e-book to sell detailing all sorts of natural therapies that can work wonders for hypertension, but it's not going to make you any money.

Let me explain.

Do you think the average person typing in "cure hypertension without drugs" is looking to buy a product that helps their hypertension? Of course not. They're looking for information on what kind of diet changes they need to make, whether green tea really is good for the heart, how much exercise they should be getting.

Probably the one thing they DON'T want to do is buy a drug or book or CD of breathing exercises because they want to lower their hypertension by themselves naturally!

Sounds simple right? And I think you can imagine how stupid I felt when I eventually came to that conclusion! Still, we all make mistakes I guess :)

To be successful in any niche, you have to think about WHAT THE CUSTOMER IS TYPING INTO THE SEARCH ENGINE. As we've seen, people going for "natural hypertension cures" are not usually looking to buy anything.

However, someone looking for "cheap upper arm blood pressure monitors" has much better customer potential (spot the 'key' keyword "cheap", meaning they are looking to make a purchase but want to save money).

The most important part is the keywords that you use, although we'll get into more details with this in future posts.

For now, remember to keep in mind your customers (and they are customers, rather than 'targets' as I've seen some marketing sites refer to them. Having a personal touch with them will reap you dividends in the future).

Think about what they are searching for, what their needs are, what they are looking to solve by going on Google in the first place. This is always a good place to start.

Peace out,

Martin

Hey guys,

Just wanted to show you this great video from a fellow online marketer about how you can crack some of the most difficult niches with ease!

This guy has worked in online marketing for a while - can't tell you how old he is exactly, but I think he's been into online marketing for a couple of decades!

This is a video detailing all the information you need to crack some really difficult niches with long-tail keywords and optimised results.

He goes into great detail with a couple of specific markets cracked right before your eyes, just to prove he knows what he's talking about!

Anyway, here's the video. The guy's name is Travis and he lives here if you want to visit him (which I thoroughly suggest you do).

Tips for Online Affiliate Marketing

Hi guys,

Just wanted to share with you a new article I have written giving tips on online affiliate marketing - a few basic things to get you started.

Enjoy!

Martin

There are a number of ways to make money online, and one of the most popular is affiliate marketing. Acting as a gateway between the consumer and the product can provide a steady source of income, in many cases for years to come. However, as attractive as online affiliate marketing is, there are many ways to do it wrong. The following are some of the main tips to stick to for success in affiliate marketing.

Choose a niche carefully – Selecting a niche that works for you is the first tip towards marketing successfully as an affiliate. If you want to make some major profits, you are going to be spending A LOT of time online marketing products. Writing promotional articles to get backlinks, updating web pages, changing sales copy, editing layouts, chatting in forums, getting to know customers personally – the hours can soon add up.

The task is made SO much easier when promoting something you CARE about. It’s all very well promoting printer toner cartridges because everyone needs them and the affiliate rates are great, but if you are not interested in the topic then that fact will come off in sales copy, and visitors will pick up on it.

Be selective and honest – The temptation when affiliate marketing is to pepper a holding page with as many links as possible and say that all the products on there are great. DON’T! There is no audience as savvy as online consumers and they will be quickly turned off by this tactic. A much better tip is to select one or two top-notch affiliate products and review them.

Be transparent in reviews – if there is something about the product that is not so great, say so. If it is not the best product on the market, point out the reasons why it is not to potential customers. Maybe a few people will leave the site at the sign of a bad review, but there will be many more who appreciate the approach of honesty online.

Write ‘Evergreen’ content – An easy mistake that many beginners in affiliate marketing make is they forget about the longer term approach. Writing articles and web content that is timeless will be much more effective in producing profits in the future than content that is focused on the ‘here and now’. Think about visitors coming online in a year – if they see a blog post that discusses something in the news that is 6 months old, they will leave immediately. Try and manipulate copy so that it remains relevant for a long time.

Be Patient – Probably the most important tip to know about online affiliate marketing is that it is not a ‘get rich quick’ scheme. The majority of profits will drip through slowly over the course of months, and sometimes years. Constant promotion and work is required to make money online, but with the effort comes rewards.

Content is King! – People visiting a web page are doing so because they have a problem or issue with something that they need the answer to. Chances are, if they have found their way to your page it is because you are promising to help them with something. Affiliate marketing content must do one thing above all – solve a problem.

People are coming to your site to learn. Teach them. Give them access to articles online that can help them out and links to videos that might be useful. Give them great quality content for free to start with. Their email address is a small price to pay for receiving a free e-book and once that is obtained and you can contact them directly, the profits can really start to come in.

Product Launch Formula

Hello all,

Got a real sweet treat for you all today - not one, but TWO free videos!

These are additional posts from Jeff Walker in his Product Launch Formula 3.0 series. The first video is already up for grabs (see my previous post for more info).

In the next video, Jeff goes on to talk about famous product launches that, well, let's just say didn't quite go to plan! But you know what? They were still very successful (we're talking about them after all). Jeff goes into details on the video, but one of the main reasons that the launches still clocked up MEGA sales is that the didn't have a single point of failure (more on this later).

The second video contains a direct comparison from Jeff on his product launch formula and the sales and marketing techniques used by a little known computer company. Here's a clue - they make the iPod! Jeff does a great job of breaking down the company's marketing strategy for the launch of the recent iPhone 4.

By the way, in case you want to get to know Jeff, here he is.

Hope you enjoy the videos!

Keywords Vs Keyphrases

Editorial Comment

Hi guys,

I'd love to show you a great article from Thomas Sinfield about the difference between Keywords and Keyphrases and how targeting them differently can do wonders for your affiliate business. Although this is a great explanation of how keywords can be used effectively, it doesn't go into great details about how you can find the keywords yourself. You can literally spend HOURS on tools such as Google's and still you might get a bit lost. Luckily, there are plenty of companies out there who can send you keywords to your email. This can also be great as some of the suggestions they make can really open your eyes to avenues and longtail keywords chains that you just might not have thought of otherwise.

4 eyes are better than 2 right? ;)

Godspeed,

Martin

Keywords Vs Keyphrases - The Secret to Higher Page Ranking
Thomas Sinfield

If you have an interest in search engine optimization then you would understand the importance of keyword research. It really is the building blocks of a successful SEO campaign - and could definitely result in poor results if the keyword research is not done correctly.

One of the most important distinctions that you need to know to start with is the difference between 'keywords' and 'key phrases'. Obviously keyword optimization is in reference to the optimization of a single word (such as 'cars' or 'insurance'), whereas key phrase optimization is when you target a multi-word phrase (such as 'blue sports car' or 'mortgage insurance for house buyers').

The problem with optimizing your website pages to single keywords is that they are highly competitive and will be extremely difficult for you to rank on the search engines for. And also, the traffic that you would receive would not be very targeted.

This is why the majority of SEO services are aimed towards key phrases, and here is why:

1. Much Easier To Rank For
If you a keyword research program than you would already know that the competition is so much more for keywords as opposed to key phrases. This is because there could be hundreds of key phrases that that are all formed from one base keyword - meaning that keyword has the combined competition of all those key phrases combined!

This means that it is much easier to rank well for phrases as opposed to keywords. However the main trade off is that obviously there would be more people searching for keywords then key phrases.

2. More Targeted Traffic
Not everyone searching for a single keyword would be interested in your website. If you are a lawyer that specializes in tax law then every person that searches a search engine for 'lawyer' would not be interested in your services.

They could be searching for a criminal lawyer, or even a lawyer on the opposite side of the country - and by targeting this keyword you are going to be investing a lot of money for something that will not have a fantastic return in your situation.

A better method is to target your phrases to your situation so while the traffic will be less - the quality will be much higher. So if you you are a tax lawyer from Florida - it may be beneficial to target the phrase ' Florida tax lawyer'.

By targeting the right key phrases you really make affordable SEO possible. however, if this seems a little to difficult for you then consider hiring an SEO services company.
